The training’s opening ceremony was held on 6 August 2026 at the Active Learning Classroom, Common Education Building (CE), University of Phayao. The ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Suwit Panyawong, Vice President for Environment and Landscape, who delivered the opening remarks. The program aims to advance the University’s environmental initiatives by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and moving toward sustainable carbon neutrality.
The training sessions were delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Netiya Kritachart and Dr. Prat Pingmuanglek, covering key topics including the concepts of Net Zero, Carbon Neutrality, and Carbon Credits; organizational-level carbon reduction target setting; strategic approaches to achieving Net Zero; and the process of obtaining an organizational carbon footprint assessment.
On 10–11 August 2026, participants undertook a study visit to Chiang Mai University and the Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Chiang Mai Province, to learn about integrated biomass management and Chiang Mai University’s approaches to implementing carbon neutrality initiatives. Participants also engaged in analysis and discussions on how these approaches could be adapted and applied to support the University of Phayao’s transition toward sustainable carbon neutrality.
The closing ceremony was held on 11 August 2026, with Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Phongsabangpho, President of the University of Phayao, presiding over the presentation of certificates to participants.
The University of Phayao remains committed to achieving its carbon neutrality goals in accordance with the national strategic direction on “environmentally friendly growth.” This commitment is incorporated into the University of Phayao Development Strategic Plan for Fiscal Years 2026–2030, with the goal of advancing the University toward sustainable carbon neutrality by 2050.
